Welcome John to the Team

John Delaney is a Lubec-based whale watch naturalist and natural science illustrator. In his previous career, John worked as a scientific communications officer for the Bronx Zoo-based Wildlife Conservation Society and the Director of Communications at the New York Aquarium for more than two decades before retiring to the Downeast Maine area in 2020. John has been interested in the history and marine life of Lubec, Eastport, and Campobello Island since the 1980s, when he worked as a teenage volunteer at the now defunct West Quoddy Marine Research Station. John is particularly focused on marine mammals and birds. He considers the shores and waters of the Quoddy region to be among the most beautiful land and seascapes in the world.

Trips with a Naturalist/Illustrator will feature John as a narrator and John will be on some regular Scenic Tours. He can also be added to any trip for a small fee.
